Illegal hoarders should be purged: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has commented that those who want to destabilize the market by illegally stockpiling products should be punished. He said this while replying to a question at a press conference held yesterday at the Prime Minister’s official residence Ganabhaban regarding his three-day visit to Munich, Germany. This is his first press conference after forming the government for the fourth time in a row.
Sheikh Hasina called on hoarders to clean up the hoarders and said that once there was a shortage in Bangladesh, it was heard that there was no rice in the stomach. And what is said now, the price of oil, the price of onion, the price of beef, is it not a change? This change of fifteen years is coming, you will admit that. What was fifteen years ago, there was a cry for rice, salt rice, rice fen begging. Now they don’t exist.
Sheikh Hasina said, those who wanted to thwart this election, when they saw that they could not stop the election. Then the plot was that if the prices of the goods were increased, the government would be separated from the people. Movement will overthrow the government. It’s part of their plan, there’s this plot. All our efforts, since the outbreak of the coronavirus, the sanctions around the world, the disruption in the transportation of goods, I have been saying – we have to prepare our own food. One inch of space should not be empty, should not be empty. Thus we have taken the initiative.
Pointing to the questioning journalist, the Prime Minister said, “Do you think you yourself have said that the eggs are hidden?” No, those who are campaigning to overthrow the government have manipulations here? Even before this, there is a shortage of such onions, sacks are being thrown into the water. What should these people do? You say that. They should be washed. Because we will say if the government does something, the government has done it. If the public remedies, then at best, no one will say anything. Things will hide and rot, and the price will increase!
The Prime Minister has assured the countrymen that there will be no shortage of daily necessities in the coming holy month of Ramadan. He said, there will be no shortage of anything in Ramadan. All arrangements have already been made. There will be no problem. There is a system to import sufficient quantity of products including chickpeas, dates, sugar. So, there will be no problem with that. Because we have already arranged for it. “How to deal with the manipulation of market management and businessmen?” In response to the question of the journalists, the Prime Minister said that there was a conspiracy, there is a conspiracy. You know that since I came, I have been repeatedly prevented from coming to power. Don’t think of the killing of the father of the nation in 1975. Russell was not spared, because no one of that blood could come to power in Bangladesh. Me and my younger sister survived abroad. After that I came back and took responsibility, my only effort is to fulfill the dream with which the father of the nation made the country independent. Conspiracies happen every time, again and again. Today we have established the right of people to vote through the movement. I have brought back the democratic system, which benefits the countrymen. There was a big conspiracy to prevent the election. Think about October 28, the fire terror of 2013, 2013/14/15 and then October 28 last year. They no longer happen suddenly, they are planned.
