Imran Khan Message from Jail

Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister, has strongly criticized the state of the country’s judicial system in the wake of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s return. In a statement shared on his official social media account, Imran Khan expressed his discontent with the ongoing events in Pakistan, labeling them a mockery of the law. The statement was originally released on October 24 by his family but was tweeted from Imran Khan’s official handle on Friday, October 27.

Imran Khan’s tenure as prime minister came to an end in April of the previous year when he was removed from power through a parliamentary vote. In his statement, he addressed the recent developments in the country, particularly the return of Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Imran Khan characterized Sharif’s return as the fulfillment of the “London Agreement.”

He began his message to the nation with these words: “My Pakistanis! In the last few days, we have witnessed a complete farce of the law. What is happening today is not just the implementation of a London Plan but the London ‘Agreement’ signed between a cowardly fugitive and corrupt criminal and his accomplices.”

Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan after spending four years in self-imposed exile in London, and his journey back was facilitated by the granting of protective bail in two corruption cases and the suspension of an arrest warrant in another case.

Imran Khan expressed his sorrow at Sharif’s release and raised concerns about the implications of allowing a convicted criminal to re-enter politics. He stated, “The only way to give a clean chit to a convicted criminal to return to politics is to destroy state institutions. And so, what we are seeing is a total collapse of our justice system.”

Imran Khan also took the opportunity to address the legal cases against himself, asserting that they are fabricated and politically motivated. He believes these charges are intended to keep him in jail after elections or for an extended period. He expressed confidence in the increasing political awareness of the Pakistani people and their resistance to behind-the-scenes conspiracies.

Regarding his health during his time in prison, Imran Khan assured his supporters that he is presently in good physical condition. He added that he would be vigilant about his well-being and expressed concern about the possibility of being poisoned while in jail.

Despite the challenges, Imran Khan encouraged his followers to persist in their efforts, emphasizing that the party leadership has been advised to initiate election campaigns. This message from jail underscores Imran Khan’s continued involvement in Pakistani politics and his commitment to his party’s objectives.
