No Bargaining Required in Moneyless Markets

The ‘Free Market Distribution’ organized by the “Bandhu Samaj Kalyan Foundation” opposite Grameen Bank of Sohagi Union in Ishwarganj Upazila is a commendable initiative. The event, which took place on Friday, March 8, aimed to provide essential food items for fasting to low-income marginalized communities without any monetary exchange.

The market featured 10 stalls decorated with various food items, including beans, brinjal, potato, oil, onion, salt, masala, dal, sugar, garlic, shrimp, tomato, cabbage, chilli, and duck. The beneficiaries, who are facing financial difficulties, were able to choose and take these items without the need to pay.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Md. Billal Hossain, the Chairman of Bandhu Samaj Kalyan Foundation, and Md. A. Gani, a former teacher of Sohagi High School. They cut the ribbon to officially open the event, expressing their commitment to supporting low-income individuals in the community.

Md. A. Gani, speaking at the event, mentioned his surprise and happiness at witnessing such a unique and impactful initiative. He praised the organization for its various social activities, including standing by helpless people during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing housing for the homeless, helping cancer patients, distributing winter clothes, and installing tube wells.

Md. Billal Hossain emphasized that the main goal of the Bandhu Samaj Kalyan Foundation is to support helpless low-income people through the efforts of its members. The beneficiaries, like Samchunnahar (40), expressed their gratitude for being able to obtain Ramadan bazaar items for their families without any financial burden.

The initiative reflects a commitment to social welfare, and the community members are hopeful for the continuation of such efforts in the future. It not only addresses immediate needs but also contributes to the well-being of the community, particularly during special occasions like Ramadan.
